Danica McKellar, you may know her from "The Wonder Years" and "The West Wing," is a mathematician and advocate for math education. She has written two books directed mainly for girls but just as relevant for boys. She takes math concepts and makes them understandable by using everyday language and concrete examples. I think these books would be a good investment in any child's education.
