Biography

I am 48 years old and entering my 23rd year of working in schools as a teacher, coach, and administrator.  I have so many wonderful relationships and friends as a result of my time I have spent with students, parents, and staff.  I am married to a wonderfully supportive person, Kathy.  We met and fell in love in Port Townsend four years ago, where Kathy graduated from high school with our Miller Assistant Principal Arnie Lewis.  She then went on to Central Washington, worked in fashion industry and traveled to many parts of the world including Pakistan, Bali and South America.  I have two sons, Cameron Decker (25) and Quinton (22), who are both members of the Navajo Tribe.  They both live in Montana, my home state.  Cameron is a college graduate and art/history teacher at a small community college.  Quinton is pursuing a computer engineering degree and has his associate arts degree in Graphic Design. My wife and I own an online high end women's fashion business called www.consigndesigneronline.com that my wife operates from our home here in Aberdeen.  I enjoy camping, fishing and crabbing, hunting, shooting skeet, trap & shooting clays, gardening, house remodeling, playing cards (poker, pinocle, texas holdem) and traveling around the United States and world including Mexico, Thailand, Japan, United States and Canada.  My mother is a retired county superintendent of schools and retired history teacher.  My father-in-law is a retired principal and superintendent and my mother-in-law is a retired elementary teacher. My father is a retired lumber mill worker and served in the Army.  I have coached football, basketball, track and have been a ASB advisor. I also taught 8th Grade Algebra and Science at the International School of Bangkok in Thailand.  I was a four-year letterman at Division I-A Montana State-Bozeman in Cross-Country, Indoor/Outdoor Track and missed qualifying for the Olympic trials by seven seconds in the 1500 meters (3:52.7).  That was in 1986 and several pounds ago.  I was born and raised in a small, rural, poor western Montana town on the Flathead Indian Reservation.  My wife and I live in Aberdeen, WA.
