Thanksgiving Vacation Facts
and Features: 1. November Positive Learning
Trait - The positive learning trait being emphasized
during the month of November is caring. Caring is defined
by: being willing to give of your time, treasures and talent
to others without expecting a great reward or
praise. 2. Parenting Tip - Valerie
Allen, a school psychologist, knows how parents can help
their children to become more responsible. Parents need to
start early. You need to encourage your child to accept
responsibility as part of growing up. Children must learn to
do their share. The more children are responsible at home,
the more they will be responsible at school. Five simple
ways to boost responsible behavior are: 1. Never do for
children what they can do for themselves. Take time to teach
them how to do things independently. 2. Give children
household responsibilities Assign simple tasks and work up
to more complex jobs. 3. Post a weekly list of chores and
have a place for each child to check off completed tasks. 4.
Don't remind, nag, scold or complain when children don't do
their chores. Explain what's expected and the consequences of not doing what's
expected. Allow consequences to happen. 5. List activities
that are allowed after work is done. This will motivate your
child to complete tasks quickly. It also keeps a balance
between work and play. 3. Early Release - School
will be dismissed early on November 25th. All students will
be dismissed at 11:50. Lunches will be served prior to
dismissal. 4. Thanksgiving Vacation -
School will not be in session on November 26 and 27 due to
Thanksgiving Vacation. 5. Winter Concerts - The K-1
Winter Concert is scheduled for December 9 at 7 PM. The
concert will be held at McDermoth. The 5-6, Band and
Orchestra Concert will be held on December 11 at 7 PM. This
concert will be held at Aberdeen High School. A concert
featuring students in grades 2-4 is scheduled for February
25 at AHS. 6. Nutcracker - Sixth grade

will leave school promptly at 8:45 A.M.
