Your child will

- Students will develop
listening and observation skills.

make choices and begin to accept responsibility for
their choices.
Heritage:
- Students will learn to
value differences of family structure (number of
brothers, sisters, adoption, foster care, mom, mom and dad,
etc.
- Students will learn the
definition of family: the people who live with
you.
- Students will learn the
definition of extended family: aunts, uncles, grandparents,
etc.
Citizenship:
- Students will be introduced
to community helpers.
- Students will name the ways
we get to school.
- Students recognize their
class at school as a community which is part of a larger
community.
Diversity:
- Students will share "Show
& Tell" items from home life so others can share their
experiences.
- Students will learn to
respect and celebrate diversity, in their families and
community.
Interdependence:
- Students will learn about
similarities and differences of individuals.
- Students will recognize that
everyone has feelings (happy, sad, angry, mad, sleepy,
etc.).
- Students will learn to
make choices, take turns, cooperate, and be
responsible for their own materials.
Change:
- Ability to separate school
from home.
- Learn classroom
routine.
- Understand role of
student in the classroom.
