Speech-Language Pathologist
Full-time, On-going position
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology.
2. Current Washington State ESA certificate or ability to acquire one.
3. Experience and training related to the job requirements.
4. Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA is desirable.
5. Successful working experience with communicatively disabled students.
6. Demonstrated organization and management skills.
7. Ability to work with a variety of people in a wide range of settings.
8. Knowledge of augmentative communications systems and devices.
9. Good communication skills with staff and parents.
10. Commitment to continued learning and personal and professional growth.
11. Ability to function cooperatively and productively as a team member with demonstrated skill in communication problem solving and collaborative decision-making.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Evaluate communication problems including receptive-expressive language, articulation, voice, fluency neuromuscular and non-vocal.
2. Document evaluation and relate the impact on the educational performance of students.
3. Recommend, establish, provide and monitor a course of intervention specific to the student's disorder.
4. Prepare/conduct comprehensive speech/language services in areas of comprehension, morphology, fluency, semantics, pragmatics, voice syntax, articulation, etc.
5. Maintain record-keeping and clerical system for IEP preparation and student progress.
6. Provide information and consultative services relative to the management of the communication disorders to the student, the multidisciplinary team, educational staff, the family and related medical and community agencies.
7. Work in a team approach with other educational team members.
8. Provide in-service training to staff.
9. Make referrals when appropriate.
10. Complete audiological screenings as necessary.
11. Demonstrate positive relationship skills with students, parents and district staff.
12. Perform other tasks as assigned.
SALARY: 2008-09 Teacher Salary Schedule
START DATE: 2008-09 School year.
