Meet our
Instructors
Mike
Machowek
Mike has been with the Aberdeen School District all of his
13 year teaching career. He is pleased that his natural
resources program has such good support and funding through
Vocational Education. He also likes the collaborative
working environment and great personnel. Mike teaches
courses in the Natural Resources Department. He also thinks
that Dave Brunke is a "master of masters". Go
Cougs!
David
Brunke
David has been with the Aberdeen School District for 12
years. One of his favorite things about teaching vocational
classes is that he is able to get out of the typical
classroom and work in the aquaculture center, the green
house and Sherwood Forest. In case you can't tell, he
teaches for the Natural Resources Department. David admires
the pride of every one in the Aberdeen School District. Go
Beavers!
Tracy
Ecklund
Tracy has been a teacher for eight years, and with Aberdeen
School District the past three. She loves teaching
vocational education classes because things are NEVER the
same! Each day brings something new. She is awed by the
incredible school spirit and wonderful students and staff.
Tracy works primarily with work experience students and
graphic communications.

Beth
Daywaters
Beth has been teaching for 26 years. This is her seventh
year with Aberdeen. She is very appreciative of the fact
that with vocational support she is able to offer students
on the Harbor experiences that others across the state to do
not have. Beth teaches several jewelry classes. She finds
that her jewelry students take on a difficult job
technically. There are some who have a natural affinity for
the medium, but a lot of hard work is involved. The results
of this hard work are terrific! Students make beautiful
jewelry at a fraction of the cost of purchased jewelry, and
they have pride in having accomplished this through their
own technical and design skills! Beth believes that the best
thing to have happened to the Aberdeen School District has
been having a superintendent who is supportive and active in
each area of the curriculum. She also loves being able to
concentrate on three- dimensional art.
Brad
Fuhrer
Brad has been with the Aberdeen School District for 27
years. He enjoys working with students in a friendly
environment and doing hands-on activities. In Brad's opinion
the best thing about the district are the great kids he gets
to work with. He teaches courses in the Wood Technology.
Just so you know, students with little or no experience are
welcome to take his classes!
Alice
Whittaker
Alice worked was with the WSU Cooperative Extension for
eight years before coming to Harbor High School five years
ago. She enjoys working with vocational education students
and watching their progress. One thing she has noticed since
arriving in the district is the support for all teachers and
the care shown each student. Alice teaches Family and
Consumer Science classes at HHS. "This district is the best
I've seen!" she says.
