Dear Parents,

 

It is my privilege and my pleasure to introduce myself as the new principal of A.J. West Elementary.  I come to Aberdeen from Bethel School District in Pierce County, but I am a Grays Harbor native. I grew up in McCleary, attended high school in Elma, and I received my Associate of Arts degree from Grays Harbor College.  I am very excited to be returning to Aberdeen!

 

Our first day of school is Tuesday, September 4.  We are beginning school this year the same day as the rest of the district.  Our Kindergarten Open House will be Thursday, August 30, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.  This will be an opportunity for you to meet with our kindergarten teachers and get any questions that you may have answered.   

 

A.J. West's beginning-of-the-year Open House will be Wednesday, September 12, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.  We will be serving ice cream, and you will able meet your children's teachers, learn about our curriculum and expectations, find out about important paperwork, sign up for PTO, and get your questions answered.  You can also come in and meet the new principal. I look forward to meeting you!

 

 I am excited to be part of the wonderful traditions here at West, including Kindergarten Circus and our Cinco de Mayo Celebration, just to name a couple.  Our Power Hour after-school program will also continue this year.  

 

 As principal, I look forward to working with our amazing staff to continue the same outstanding education that A.J. West has always provided.  I believe that a successful education is the product of the teamwork of parents, students, and staff.  We need your support guidance, and cooperation to ensure that our students continue to be successful.

 

Again, it is my privilege and my pleasure to serve as principal at A.J. West.  I am looking forward, with great enthusiasm, to a great year!
