Afterschool Program
Program Goals:
1. Increase students' academic performance in school.
2. Provide engaging opportunities for parents to increase participation in their students' education.
3. Provide students with enrichment and career activities to complement their regular academic program and increase student engagement.
4. Increase students' social, emotional, and physical well-being.
Study Center:
Adult staff and student tutors are available to support students with questions on homework and class assignments. Computers are also available for class work involving technology. Students must bring work to accomplish when they attend the Study Center. Each day there is time for homework and then time for fun.

2:45-3:00PM - Students sign in and consult with staff about what they plan to work on for the day.
3:00-3:45PM - Homework time!
3:45-4:00PM - Snack time!
4:00-4:45PM – Free time!
Credit Retrieval:
Classroom-Style Learning: Project BEST English is a hands-on after school class. Learning through hands-on projects is a solution for many teens struggling in the classroom. Requires 10+ grade level status, failure of at least one 0.5 credit English course, current AHS student, cannot currently be enrolled in English L1. Grade received replaces the failing grade from a previous 0.5 credit English class.
· Project BEST English will be in Mr. Dore's room - 236
· Monday-Thursday 2:55-4:25
· Project BEST Math will be in Mr. Brownlow’s room - 317
· Monday-Thursday 2:55-4:25
· Semester 1 begins September 10th and ends January 18th.
· Semester 2 begins January 28th and ends June 14th.
· A balanced snack is served daily around 3:45.
Academic Enrichment:
Project B.E.S.T. includes a variety of fun academic enrichment activities!
· Nerd Club on Wednesdays 3:00-4:30PM. Join Mr. Bruncke for tons of fun with nerdy games, competition, outdoor activities such as geocaching, and much more!
· Field trips to local businesses and colleges to explore career and education options.
· Family nights will be offered roughly once per month. FREE DINNER will always be prepared and served by students in the Afterschool Program. During this event, parents will be given information important to their child’s education.
General:
Snacks served daily.
Bus passes available daily for Grays Harbor Transit.
