Thank you to all the voters in the Aberdeen School District who supported the renewal of our Maintenance & Operations (M&O) levy on February 14, 2012. The local levy provides support for numerous program in our district and with your support we will continue to offer great opportunities for students in Aberdeen.
This week we had a Consolidated Program Review (CPR) of our federal programs by the staff at the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). This group of program experts spent an entire day in our district reviewing all of our federal programs. You can see by the notebooks our staff compiled, it involved many different aspects of our district operations. We have about 15 items we need to follow up with over the next few weeks in order to stay in compliance. That is something we will work on and submit to OSPI prior to spring break.
Our state swimming and wrestling participants were escorted out of town in style on Thursday. This weekend included state swimming and diving at the King County Aquatic Center, state wrestling at the Tacoma Dome, and All-State Orchestra in Yakima. Best wishes to all. More information can be found on the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) and the Washington Music Educators Association (WMEA) websites.
Several of our science classes, from elementary to secondary, participate in various projects throughout the school year. Below are a few pictures from the engineering fair at Stevens Elementary. Aberdeen High School students also demonstrated their Rube Goldberg machines last week in the freshman science classes.
Wednesday evening the Renaissance Action Team (RAT) at Aberdeen High School held the People's Choice Awards for selected students in the auditorium. This is an annual event where students are recognized for their contributions in the classroom, the community, in service to others or for outstanding achievement or growth. Congratulations to all the students selected and involved in this great event. For more information and pictures, check out the RAT webpage on the Aberdeen HS website.
