It's our reaction to adversity, not the adversity itself, that determines how our life story will develop. – Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Honestly, there is not much adversity in staying at home in beautiful weather. Our struggle will be to push ourselves to learn as much as we can for the remainder of the year. Let's aggressively grab hold of our learning opportunities and wring as much out of them as we can. If the work is too easy, let me know, I'll make it more challenging. If the work is too challenging, let me know, I'll find a fit for you. Push me to give you what you need. Make use of my office hours often and early. Let's not use our time off as an excuse to slack off. Let's use our time off to take off as learners.

Parents, contact me. Let me know how things are going for you student and how I can make it better.

All of our learning will take place on Google Classroom. I'll email you and your parents the codes

Parents, I have a Google Classroom page just for you! You'll be able to see what's happening in class. Of course, you are welcome to peek in on you daughter/son's page as well. I've emailed you the Google Classroom code for both.

This is my 23rd year in the Aberdeen School District. I taught my first five at Robert Gray and the last eighteen at Miller. I earned my BA at Western Washington University and my MA through Lesley University. Prior to teaching, I worked at the Weyco Mill in Raymond, owned a window washing service in Mt. View, California, and served a tour in the USMC. Nothing seemed fulfilling until I taught. Also, I've coached high school and jr. high football, girl's soccer and softball, Special Olympics, and kid wrestling. I welcome you to an exciting year at MJH, and I look forward to guiding your growth as a reader and writer.
