    School Closure Alerts

As fall and winter are on their way, it is important for parents to be able to get up-to-date information regarding school closures.  If you have not yet signed up for the FlashAlert system, you may do so by going to  www.flashalert.net and signing up for text and/or email messages regarding school closures and other alerts.  School closures and delays are also announced on local radio and television stations. If you have signed up previously, you must sign in and renew for the current school year.

Student Handbooks are Available on Our Website

The student handbook for A.J. West students is now available on our website.  You can find it at https://www.asd5.org/cms/lib/WA01001311/Centricity/Domain/1191, or you can go to asd5.org, click on “Select a School”, choose A.J. West and click on the student handbook link toward the bottom. If you do not have access to a computer or unable to download the handbook, a printed copy is available for parents at the A.J. West office.

    Tardies and Absences

Parents, please make sure students arrive on time for school.  School begins promptly at 8:30 AM every morning. Please make sure that students are here before the bell.  All late students will be marked tardy. Unless you have sent a note, have called, or have brought the student in, the tardy must be marked unexcused.  It is important to your child’s education that he or she is in school, and missing time from school is counterproductive to his or her academic success.  All absences must be excused, as well. Parents may call in to excuse absences at 360-538-2130. Parents must call in each day that a student is absent. In the event a student is absent, and there is no phone call from the parent, then the absence must be unexcused.  Please call by 9:00 AM to excuse an absence.
