Biography: My name is Mrs. Veach and I am a 2nd grade teacher here at AJ West! I have been lucky enough to work at AJ West for over 5 years now and I could not be more excited about what this year has in store for our class. I was born and raised here in Aberdeen--it's my favorite place! I attended George Fox University after graduating from AHS and GHC in 2010 with my high school diploma and my Associates of Arts. I graduated from GFU with my Bachelor's in Spanish in 2012. During my time I got to spend time in Costa Rica and Peru--growing in my Spanish language development and love for adventure. After that, I started my Master's of Arts in Teaching at GFU specializing in Elementary, ESOL and bilingual education, but my heart was always home on the Harbor. I couldn't be happier getting to follow my dream of being a teacher here.
Mission Statement: My goal is for ALL of my students to feel safe and loved, show achievement, and have fun learning. I do this by differentiating my instruction to meet the needs of each individual learner by their learning levels and interests. I want to find what makes my students hearts come to life and engage them through that as often as possible. My lessons are hands-on and engaging. My high kids will be challenged with enrichment activities that are more than just extra work and I will meet with my low kids and reteach/adjust instruction as needed to reach them at their proximal zone of development. I believe that regardless of a students academic level, income status, or first language, they should show achievement and be challenged by the content of class
