Zoom Guide for Parents and Students
Zoom - is a web based video conferencing tool. You do not need a zoom account to attend a zoom session. In most cases the host of the zoom meeting will send a link to join the meeting. In some cases they may send a meeting ID and password.
Joining a Zoom session on a Chromebook:
- At 2-3 minutes before the zoom session is about to begin, click the zoom session link that was sent to you
- The first time you use zoom you may need to enter your screen name (tyipcally First Name is preferred)
- In some cases you may be placed in a waiting room until the Teacher let's you into the session
- Once in the zoom session your teacher may control many of the settings for students
- It is best practice to always mute your mic unless you need to speak
Joining a Zoom session no a Windows/Mac device:
- At 2-3 minutes before the zoom session is about to begin, click the zoom session link that was sent to you
- The first time you use zoom it will download a small app to connect to the zoom session
- This process can vary depending on the device, follow the on screen directions to get zoom started
- The first time you use zoom you may need to enter your screen name (tyipcally First Name is preferred)

Basic Zoom User Controls
- Mic Muting/toggle can be found in the lower left hand corner
- Video disabling/toggle can be found in the lower left hand corner
- During a zoom session if you open the participants window (bottom center) you can "raise your hand" by clicking the raise hand button n the lower right corner of the participants window
