Hello Stevens Families~
I am Jamie Stotler, and I am so excited to be returning to Stevens at the Principal! Some of you may remember me as Ms. Dunn, Assistant Principal at Stevens, a few years ago. I am so honored to be able to return this year to work with the amazing staff, students, and families of Stevens. I look forward to the upcoming school year, even though it will come with many obstacles and changes due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. I
This is my 21st year in education, and my 4th year with the Aberdeen School District. I spent 15 years as a classroom teacher in grades 3-5 in the Hoquiam School District. I was priviledged to be the first Dean of Students at Central Elementary School in Hoquiam. I served in that role for 3 years, and then made the big leap adn crossed Myrtle Street to join the Aberdeen School District in 2017. In my time at Aberdeen, I have been the Assistant Principal at Stevens, and most recently the building Principal at Robert Gray for two years.
I love learning, which is a good thing because I go to school everyday! I graduted from Grays Harbor College with an AA degree in 1998, and then Washington State Univeristy University in 2000 with a Bachelors of Science in Education. At WSU, I also earned a minor in Elementary Education. I later earned a Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning from the University of New England and a second Masters in Administration from Western Governors University.
I recently got married to my best friend and together we have three children. My husband, Damon, is a mechanic with the Hoquiam-Aberdeen Transportation CO-Op. My son Walker just finished his post-secondary education at Perry Technical Institute in Yakima, and is now employed full-time in the HVAC industry. ReyLynn, my daughter, will be starting her seond year at Eastern Washington University (virtually of course!) and is studying to be a nurse. Noah is a 5th grader in the school district. So, you can see, my family are very much "Harborites" and devoted to education!
So, what do I like to do in my spare time? Well....in the spring and summer, you will find me DRAG RACING! This is shocking to many but it is my all-time favorite thing to do!! I hope that there is a time this spring that I can bring my race car to school for the kids to see. Since I cannot drag race all the time, I am also an avid runner. I try to run between 130-150 miles each month. I truly enjoy running the various half marathon events around the Pacific Northwest.
I am dedicated to the students and families of Stevens. I enjoy visiting classrooms and spending time with the kids. I try to be in the cafeteria and on the playgrounds, so that I can enjoy the kids doing what they like to od. Although, I am not very "sportsy", so I am not so good at their games! I truly enjoy sitting with kids at lunch, and love to have students as teh "Principal for the Day".
I am excited to meet you, and be YOUR Principal at Stevens. Please reach out to me with any questions, comments, or concerns that you may have. I am available by phone at 360-538-2150 or email@example.com
