The maintenance crew still has some buttoning up to do, but we're pleased to report the first week went smoothly. Many thanks to the staff who worked hard to make sure classrooms were ready at the bell.

Things are moving along at the modular this week as the contractor, Modern Building Systems, continues with the siding and the roof structure. On Friday, the crew began work on putting the roofing down and continued siding work on the outside of the building.
On the inside of the building, a crew from Emerald Fire started installing the sprinkler system tie-in to the attic and in the classrooms and MB Electric was working on the fire alarm system and getting prepped for power to the building, while the district’s Technology Department installed about half the network cables and the Maintenance Department has been working on security wiring, door locks and placing teacher cabinets.
Everyone is looking forward to next week when Rognlin’s will be back doing sidewalk prep and all the work described above will continue.
The Maintenance Department crew members, who provide the photos and information for these updates, wishes everyone a great weekend!

It’s been a fantastic week at the construction site for the new 6th Grade modular building at Miller Junior High School.
On Monday, Modern Building Systems and Snell Crane Service began placing the modular sections at the site. All sections were in place by Tuesday afternoon. Our Maintenance manager, Mike Pauley, reports that the week ended with the crew setting the trusses on the temporary roof and that the truss work will continue next week.Friday, September 6, 2019
It's been a great week at the construction site. Maintenance Manager Mike Pauley reports the modular sections are all in town now and stored at the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport. The crew is on schedule to begin moving the sections to Miller Junior High School on Monday, September 9.
It should be pretty dramatic when the crane starts setting the sections into place. The project remains on time for completion in October.

Concrete was poured for the stem wall at the Miller Modular Project. The crew from Rognlin's Inc. will continue next week with the foundation drains, and backfill, and begin removing the forms from the stem wall.
Maintenance Manager Mike Pauley reports that they will also begin work on the support walls inside of the foundation where the modulars will be joined together (pony walls). The fire suppression piping was flowed for the fire marshal inspection on Thursday, which also allows for the lines to be cleared of any debris from the construction of the water line.
Mr. Pauley said the project continues to be on schedule for the October timeline.

This week has been productive at the construction site. Maintenance Manager Mike Pauley reports that the Rognlin's crew has stripped the forms from the grade beams and started to place the forms for the stem walls. We are progressing forward to our October move-in deadline. In the coming week, we should see the concrete poured for the stem walls, foundation drains being placed, and some additional grade work on the site.
If all goes according to plan, Mr. Pauley reports the site should be ready for the modular to be moved onto the site in the first part of September.

In this week's update, we can report that the piling work is complete for the modular building at Miller Junior High School and work is on schedule for completion in October. The first picture below shows Rognlin's re-bar crew working on the re-bar for the grade beams.
In addition, this past week, the next two photos show the view from the security cameras that were installed at the mid-point between Miller Junior High School and Stevens Elementary School overlooking the path students will take through the parks. The District is grateful to the City of Aberdeen for allowing the cameras to be placed on their building. Key people involved in the process were Parks Director Stacie Barnum and Parks Maintenance Supervisor Craig Coic, along with the ASD5 Technology and Maintenance departments.
The next three pictures are from Wednesday, July 25 and they show our ASD5 Maintenance crew building the walkway students will use between schools.
