EL Program Contact Information

English Language Learning

The Washington State Transitional Bilingual Instructional Program and Title III (Federal) provide funds to local education districts to ensure equal educational opportunities for students whose primary language is other than English.

The goal of the English Learner Program is to provide specifically designed instruction for those students who qualify to receive English Learners (EL) services.  Currently there are approximately 450 English Language Learners in the district with several different languages and cultures represented.

Instructional Approaches

Accessible Content

Teachers use instructional strategies to make grade-level standards and content accessible to all students, regardless of their proficiency.

Language Development

Teachers review progress and provide targeted instruction to support students' individual language needs.

Imagine Learning Language & Literacy Program

With Imagine Learning Language & Literacy, every child receives explicit, targeted instruction within an individualized learning path that continually adjusts to their needs. Engaging activities teach critical language and literacy concepts such as reading and listening comprehension, basic vocabulary, academic language, grammar, phonological awareness, phonics, and fluency.

Program Model

English Language Learners (ELL) services support development of students' English language skills and ensure access to grade level academic content for all students. Students qualify for ELL services until they reach a high level of English skills, not only in speaking and listening, but also in reading and writing.
