Mr. Jason Garman
Please check your email every day. I will email information during the day, hopefully having it to you when you first log on for the day, around lunch time, or at the end of the day.
I will be available daily from 7am - 4pm by email, and appointments can be made. If you are struggling with any of the work assigned, a zoom meeting can be set up with you, and your parents, or a small group of students.
This Week's Schedule: June 15 - June 19, 2020
The link to the meetings is found on your google classroom page. I have also sent the link for the meeting in an email. If you cannot access google classroom, or you cannot find the email, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, and I can resend the link, and password to attend the meetings. If none of those options work for you, email me, and we can figure out the best way for us to move forward, and keep everyone involved, as much as possible.
Your learning opportunities are found in Google classroom. Each week's opportunity will be uploaded by 8:00am every Monday. If you do NOT have reliable internet access, the learning opportunities have been made into packets that you can pick up at any of the meal pick up locations. I will also be posting the work on this page under the classroom assignments tab, once I can determine the best way to upload the assignments onto the assignments page. I am working with other staff to make sure this is done, and I apologize for any problems, or inconveniences this may cause. Until then, please feel free to email me at email@example.com and contact me directly, and I will ensure you, and your student(s) can access the work.
If you are having problems logging in, or if you have any questions about what should be done daily, or weekly, please email me.
Please see our google classroom page for information regarding academics and assignments. Remember, you must be logged into your google account to access google classroom.
Google classroom codes:
Wa state history: bv6xl6o (On this code the letter after the x is a lower case L, not a 1. That has been a common problem when entering the code)
NOTE-- The work being assigned is adjusted for distance learning. Students are not expected to be doing schoolwork like they would be at school, or for 7 hours a day. While there are many options for how to structure a schedule for distance learning, what you, and your family choose to do are up to you. One article suggests a minimum of 15 minutes per class per day, for a total of 90 minutes daily, AS A MINIMUM, and a maximum of 30 minutes per class, per day for a total of 180 minutes daily, AS A MAXIMUM. That is just one article that was found, that lines up similarly with what the expectations were upon the inital closure. A suggested schedule:
Monday - 20 minutes for each class. Introduce yourself to the work to be done for the week in each class. Email teacher with any questions, comments, concerns, or areas of confusion.
Tuesday - Virtual Classroom Day at Miller. Login to zoom, or google classroom to meet with your teacher, and classes during your normally scheduled class times
Wednesday - 20 minutes for each class. After reviewing Monday and Tuesday, start digging deeper into the work, and work towards completion of the weeks asssigned work. Email teacher with questions, comments, concerns, or areas of confusion. Set up a meeting with teacher if needed.
Thursday - 20 minutes for each class. Complete packets as required, and submit work to teacher for feedback. Email teacher with questions, comments, concerns, or areas of confusion. Set up a meeting with teacher if needed.
Friday - 20 minutes for each class. Complete any unfinished work, and ensure it is submitted.
This is just a suggested schedule for your student to complete the weeks work. Hopefully your student has found a way to get their work done, and has a schedule that works for them, as well as the parents.
Work for this Week for ELA: This week we will be finishing our character sketches, and character worksheets. Directions will be attached in google classroom. There will be a sheet for 8 of the main characters, and these sheets have information about each character for you to fill in. We also would like for you to make a drawing of 2 characters. We will discuss this further, and answer any questions you have during our zoom meeting Tuesday.
Work for this week in Washington State History: Chapter 10 in A Horses Tale (1980's). Decade by decade questions. Chapter 10 questions. Suggested to read chapter 10, do chapter 10 questions.
We will be meeting Tuesday at 10am for a combined zoom meeting with Mrs. Snyder. A link will be sent
Do not forget. This is the assigned work. I encourage you to utilize other online education forums. These can include mobymax, imagine learning, no red ink, and do not forget to read, make a journal entry, enjoy the weather (when it gets nicer), ask questions, stay positive, and keep working hard.
