I have been at Hopkins since 1992 and working in education for 34 years.
Where did you grow up and how long have you lived in this area?
Born and raised in Aberdeen. I attended A.J. West, Hopkins Jr. High and graduated from AHS.
Who was your favorite teacher and why?
Mr. Viney, my fourth grade teacher. He would read to the class right after recess to help calm us down. His voice was so comforting.
What do you enjoy about working with preschoolers and their families?
Watching kids build their first friendships and watching parents do the same, sharing parenting tips and offering encouragement.
What do you do when you are not at school?
I like to take my dog for long walks. I also like to go thrift shopping to find unique items to repurpose.
What is something that never fails to make you laugh or smile?
When I hear children singing in class, it always makes me smile. What makes me laugh is listening to my husband try to remember the lyrics to a song.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
To be able to go anywhere in the world with the snap of a finger. I wanted to be Samantha from the T.V. show "Bewitched".
