KASI TURNER - SCHOOL COUNSELOR

Ms. Kasi Turner
  • ONCE A DRAGON, ALWAYS A DRAGON!

I graduated from Harbor High in 1995. There were 13 students in my graduating class and we had our ceremony at the Log Pavilion. I didn't go directly to college after high school. I chose to work and I had my son, Gabe, who is now 25. He's in the picture with me. In 1999, I enrolled in Grays Harbor College. I graduated with my AA in 2001. At that time, WSU had an extension at GHC and offered an education program. I enrolled in 2001 and graduated with a BA in Elementary Education in 2003. Being bilingual, I wanted to further my education by completing the Bilingual Education program at Evergreen State College. I worked various jobs in education; EL Para in Hoquiam, taught English for Grays Harbor College at the Elma Fairgrounds and taught 3rd grade in Ocean Shores. While teaching 3rd grade, I attended City University of Seattle. I received a Master's in Technology- Teaching and Learning in 2009. I earned an endorsement in Spanish and I started teaching for Aberdeen High School in 2007. I continued to teach Spanish until 2016. At that time, I was able to take the opportunity to move into a TOSA position and work under the School Counselors while I earned my degree. In 2018, I earned a Master's Degree in School Counseling from the University of the Southwest. I remained at Aberdeen High School as a counselor and Spanish teacher until September of 2021 when I began work as the School Counselor for Harbor Learning Center. I believe that it is important to continue to grow and advance, so I take every opportunity I can to further my education.

Working with the staff and students at Harbor Learning Center makes me proud to be a Dragon!
