6th GradeTeacher5th Grade Math& Social Studies
I have been in the education field for more than 25 years with experience in all grade levels K-6. For six years I was Aberdeen School District's Highly Capable Program teacher. I have also enjoyed teaching at the college level for Washington State University and City University's Teacher Education Programs. Recently, I had the honor of being chosen as one of ESD 113's Math Educational Consortium Teacher Leaders. This will allow me to help strengthen student math skills, as well as train teachers in our area on incorporating strategies to meet the Common Core State Standards. Math is a great love of mine, and I am excited to pass that love of learning on to my students.
I was born and raised in Aberdeen and attended both Central Park and McDermoth Elementary Schools. I graduated from Aberdeen High School and received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Washington State University (Go Cougs!). Shortly after, I earned my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from City University. My husband is also a teacher (out in Westport), and we have three sons. I have three grown sons who all attended the Aberdeen School District. In my free time I enjoy camping with my family, reading books, and scrapbooking.
