• When a general education student needs additional support in the classroom, then a student support team (SST) can be called into action.  Below is an outline of Steps that an SST team must perform.

    Step 1:    Student, Parent or Teacher initiates a conversation with Grade Level Counselor

     

    Step 2:    A file review is conducted by Grade Level Counselor


    Step 3:    Feedback occurs between Counselor and Student or Parent or Teacher


    Step 4:    If next step needed, then Classroom Intervention Forms are distributed by the Counselor 

    to all of the teachers involved in the student's schedule.


    Step 5: Classroom Intervention Forms are completed and returned to the grade level counselor


    Step 6: SST Meeting Scheduled by Grade Level Counselor


      • Note: Typically these are scheduled on Thursday mornings at Miller Junior High. MIller staff please sign into schoolwires and review the Miller Calendar

      • SST Team members may include: 

        student, parents, teachers, SPED teacher, Counselors, School Psychologist and administration.

         
      • The 

        initial SST meeting will look at student strengths, weaknesses, devise an action plan to intervene that involves the collection of data.
      • The SST team will set a target of when to meet and review the data collected.

    Step 7: SST Team meets again and reviews data collected


      • Note: Typically these are scheduled on Thursday mornings at Miller Junior High.
      • SST meeting members must include: 

        student, parents, teachers, SPED teacher, Counselors, School Psychologist and administration.

      • The SST team reviews the data collected and makes recommendations for classroom interventions, grade level interventions and/or school wide interventions.
    • Step 8: 

      SST Team meets again and reviews data collected and considers next step

        SST meeting members must include: 

        student, parents, teachers, SPED teacher, Counselors, School Psychologist and administration.
