    Dear Miller Junior High Community,

I am honored to lead Miller Junior High School for my fifth school year.  I welcome the opportunity to continue the proud traditions of excellence in academics, athletics, activities, and community involvement at Miller Junior High School and the Aberdeen School District while working with our community to transition to a 6-8 Grade Level School.

I entered this learning community five years ago after twenty three years in the Federal Way School District with experience at all three grade levels-elementary, junior high, and high school. During my eleven years at the junior high level, I was a Teacher, a Behavior Interventionist, School Counselor, Dean of Students, and AssistantPrincipal.  At the high school level, I served as an Assistant Principal, Curriculum Assistant Principal, and ultimately a High School Principal for seven years. I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at Wichita State University.   My Master’s Degree in School Counseling and my school administration certificate were earned atSeattle Pacific University.  Excited to apply my knowledge, skills, and experiences in this amazing school, I know this community has much to teach me as well.

I believe all students will be successful.  It our mission to work together to assist students in meeting success, and our positive relationships with students are at the core of this belief.

I believe in the value of extracurricular activities.  It is our mission to insure students connect with school not only academically, but in at least one other area as well.

I believe in high expectations for all students.  It is our mission to communicate our expectations to students along with our belief in them, while removing all barriers to students’ dreams.

I believe our school must provide a safe and supportive learning environment. It is our mission to model for students what we expect, to teach and reinforce the expectations, to intervene when necessary, and to celebrate our students who make positive changes right along with those students who consistently make good choices.

I believe our school must prepare students to successfully transition to high school, leaving junior high ready and confident to take the next step in their lives.  It is our mission to assist students and families in making school and life choices which properly prepare students for whatever paths they choose in high school.

I believe that anything and everything is attainable when students, staff, families, and community work together.  It is our mission to make sure this happens at Miller.

Feel free to email me at lgriebel@asd5.org.  I would love to connect with you.

    Sincerely,

    Lisa Griebel
