Eight students from Aberdeen High School and Harbor High School won state championships and qualified to attend the National SkillsUSA Competition in Louisville, Ky., this summer. So far, two events are planned to help students defray costs.
Donations in support of the trip will be collected during the Snug Harbor (COPE) Spring Salad Bar, which takes place this Friday, May 10, in Room 19 at the Hopkins Building from 11 a.m. to noon. The “full meal deal” for $5 will include salad bar, rolls, fruit and cookies. All are welcome.
The 12th Annual SkillsUSA Bar-B-Que is planned for Wednesday, May 22, in the Commons at Aberdeen High School. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased from any team member or at the school.
Congratulations to the state champions:
AHS -- Bryson Grenier, Andrew Shumate, Michaela Leach, Daniel Hunt, Paulian Beardsley, Eric Eng, and Cahli Birchard.
HHS -- Perla Mata.
Their advisor, Chuck Veloni, notes that Paulian Beardsley will be unable to attend the national conference because she leaves for the Navy following graduation.
