Dear Harbor Learning Center Families,

It is with deep regret that we inform you about a recent loss to our school community. On February 21, we learned that our school custodian, Mike Anderson, died after an extended illness. Even though Mr. Anderson has not worked here at school for several months, this loss could raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our students.  Mr. Anderson worked at the Harbor Learning Center since 2010. Over the last years, he was a daily presence in the school cafeteria before school and at lunchtime, especially at the pool table.  Students enjoyed learning the game of pool from him, and he even organized a yearly pool tournament.

Harbor Learning Center’s school counselor, Kasi Turner, is trained to help with the needs of students at difficult times such as this. If needed, other Aberdeen School Counselors will be on site for support.  All staff here at the Harbor Learning Center are ready to stop, listen, and support our students.  

We are saddened by the loss to our school community and will make every effort to help your student as needed.
