Welcome to our FIFTH  DAY of Distance Learning!
Wow!  The air quality in Aberdeen is considered "unhealthy".  Make sure you make good decisions.  It is recommended that you reduce your exposure by trying to stay inside.  
Why Wait?  The silence of the Zoom Waiting Room
Students- thanks for being so patient while in "THE WAITING ROOM".  Your teachers go to 100's of ZOOM meetings and workshops and also know the joy of the waiting room.  The waiting room serves a very important purpose.  It allows the teacher to enter students into the virtual classroom at a pace where the teacher can verify that the student belongs in the class.  Just like when we are in school face to face, teachers do not let students that do not have that class or random strangers into their classrooms.  It is about keeping all of us safe- even in distance learning.  That is also why teachers are requiring that you use your first and last name AND turn your camera on when entering- they need to verify that it is really you.  Thanks for being understanding of the waiting room.  I usually check my work email and do other school related work while I wait in the waiting room.

This week the office staff is offering an optional meet and greet ZOOM in the afternoons.  It has been scheduled by 6th Grade Advisory.  Ask your advisory teacher about where to find the ZOOM link!  Do not miss an afternoon music class to attend this AND it is OPTIONAL!

Substitute Teachers
Even in distance learning, sometimes your teachers will be gone and have substitutes.  At Miller we are kind, warm, and welcoming to our substitutes!  Make good choices when you have a substitute!  Remember, you are representing yourself, your team, your grade level, and Miller Junior High! Make a great impression!

Miller Afterschool Program. 2020-2021

Miller Junior High After School Program is registering students for the 2020-2021 school year.

The program runs 2:45 pm – 4:30 pm Monday through Thursday.

Students have an opportunity for enrichment activities as well as support for their studies.  The program has LIMITED enrollment capacity.  It is not a drop in program, so students are expected to commit to the program and attend every day.  The program will be offered on line/remotely while MJH students are participating in 100% distance learning.  The plan is to transition to in-person After School Program when MJH students are allowed to return to school.  Wear masks, wash your hands, and practice social distancing so we can all return to school soon!

The registration form is attached to the bottom of this email for you to fill out if you are interested.

Attendance is taken daily in your classes.  If you do not attend a live ZOOM session class, OR attend a teacher's office hours, communicate with a teacher via email or call, OR log into canvas and do work for each class each day, you will be marked ABSENT for that class on that day.  If you do work in Canvas after the school day ends at 2:30 until midnight, the teachers review Canvas the next day and will make changes to your attendance for the previous day. 
Yes, this is complicated and a change to how attendance is taken STATE WIDE to take into account remote/distance learning.  

School Lunch
Remember that school lunch is served at our elementary schools.
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays 11-1
There have been changes to the program so you no longer need your lunch ID card or your PIN number.
Remember you will be walking onto a school campus, so have a mask and stay 6 feet apart.  It was reported that families/students are going to the food sites without masks.  You need to have a mask to walk onto school district property and get lunch.
All school rules apply at the feeding sites so be the best BobKittens you can be!
Music Classes
There were several emails sent out to students about Band, Orchestra, and Vocal Music.  There is information on our website as well, including the music schedule.  Please email the counselors if you are interested in taking a music class.
If you have been playing an instrument and you were in a band/orchestra class last year, your parents/guardians are the only ones that can have you drop a music class.
Tech issues?
Tell your teacher.  They will let the office know.  Tech issues so bad you can not send an email?  Call the school at 360 538 2100.

School Office Hours
Our Office is "open" 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM.  Please wear a mask.  Practice social distancing.  Ring the buzzer.  Wait outside.  You will not be allowed into the building.  There are some office staff available to take your phone calls as well.  The school office number is 360 538 2100.

Math Books
Our math curriculum is all on line.  If you want a paper version of the math book, you can come to the Miller Office Monday-Friday 7:30-3:30 and request a copy.  Unable to get here during those hours?  We can make other arrangements for your family.
