Attention 8th Grade Students, below is a message from Ashley Kohlmeier

AHS ASB/Leadership is looking for great student leaders to help continue our tradition of bobcat pride, as well as come up with new ideas as we hopefully start a "normal" year next fall. I will be hosting an informational Zoom on Wednesday, April 28th @ 1:00PM for students who want to ask questions, hear information, or just meet me and a few of our current ASB leaders. The link is below, and I will also send it to you as a Google Calendar invite.

In planning for next year ASB/Leadership will be in the morning. You'll need to carve out room in your schedule during I period and 1st period. I'll speak more on this at the meeting. Hope that many of you will attend.

Email me if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Message about required GRADES 6, 7, AND 8 HIV/AIDS information:

In response to the threat of HIV to our population, the 1988 Washington State Legislature mandated that a program of prevention education be presented yearly to students beginning with the fifth grade.  The Aberdeen School District has adopted an appropriate program for HIV prevention education with the advice of educators, parents and community members.  To provide our students with quality instruction on this topic, we will be utilizing the KNOW curriculum.

The KNOW curriculum is available online for your review.  Please click this link to the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction's website:  https://www.k12.wa.us/student-success/resources-subject-area/sexual-health-education/know-curriculum

In the past at MJH, this curriculum was provided in our PE/Health classes.  Since we do not have PE/Health classes this year, some of our former PE/Health teachers created lessons for students that will be available in their Advisory Canvas class during the week of May 3-7.  These lessons are independent, not teacher-led.

This information is on our school website, and is going out in the 4/28 MJH Newsletter.  If you parent/guardian has concerns about your viewing this state required information, they can contact the school principal!   lgriebel@asd5.org

P-EBT Card Update-

Here is an update from OSPI regarding the P-EBT cards:

P-EBT benefits will be loaded to eligible children’s cards on April 20, 2021 and benefit amounts are dependent on the majority of time you are distance learning vs in person learning.

Some families are still waiting to receive their P-EBT cards in the mail and the state appreciates your continued patience while DSHS works to mail letters and cards to eligible students.

If your family has not gotten their card yet, the last batch of P-EBT cards will be mailed on April 27, 2021, and cards take seven to 10 days to arrive in the mail.

I have exciting news! Students are now able to log-in to Destiny Discover with their Google account to search the library collection and they can place holds on books that are available.  Mrs. Schreck will check for books on hold each day and deliver them to the students advisory class. Students are able to check out one book at a time. The book will be due in two weeks and they will need to return it to check out another.

Here is the link for Destiny Discover:

Here is a short video on how to put a hold on a book:

Students-  In Phase 3, there are spectators allowed at our home soccer and football games.  However, with COVID there are still LOTS OF RULES.  If you are a football player or soccer player, please share this information with your family.

NO STUDENTS can attend these events as spectators UNLESS they are with a family member/adult to sit with.

Spectator Expectations for soccer and football

We had our first girls soccer game at Stewart Field on April 1st and NO FOOLS- We had over 200 spectators!  It was glorious.  We are following Washington State Phase 3 Spectator Expectations at our MJH Soccer and Football games.  (If our County goes BACK to Phase 2 or moves forward to Phase 4, these guidelines would be revised.)  We are having ALL home soccer and football games at Stewart Field since they hold a larger crowd capacity.  Our MJH home stadium can only hold 200 spectators under Phase 3 guidelines, and we can have 400 spectators at Stewart Field!  Please come prepared to wait in line at 6 feet apart to get through the attestation for spectators.

 400 Spectator Capacity

  • Families of Players and Fans  (Both Home and Visitor) only
  • No UNACCOMPANIED student fans (Students watching game MUST be with/sit with an adult family member responsible for them)
  • Sign in and provide contact information
  • Attest to health questions
  • Have temperature taken
  • Wear mask at all times and wear mask correctly (this is includes all children 2 +)
  • Cooperate with all directions of supervisors
  • Follow Stewart Field Rules (including no outside food brought in AND no pets)
  • Adhere to league guidance on sportsmanship
